Johannesburg-De Beers and Canada's SouthernEra Resources are expected to resume talks in London today to resolve a dispute over the diamond-rich Marsfontein farm.SouthernEra,De Beers and 29 heirs to the farm held two days of negotiations in Johannesburg this week to try and settle the dispute out of court.
"Another meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow in London,and we should have some indication by then."Roger Kebble ,chairman of Randgold & Exploration said yesterday.
The battle over the farm began in January when 29 heirs obtained an injunction preventing the South African government from tranferring the mineral rights to SouthernEra and its South African partner Randgold.It launched a court bid to secure the mineral rights.In April,the heirs agreed to a prospecting contract with De Beers .The deal is valued at R75 million.-Reuters
