William,

You know one of the big advantages Barnes and Noble has over Amazon is their existing brick and mortar infrastructure. If they play their cards right, could they not simply use these existing stores as a distribution network for sales made over the internet. i.e. link the website with the stores in the major metropolitan cities across the country, hire a few delivery companies to make same day deliveries of books bought online at BKS. In this fashion, the existing stores do not lose market share, more books are sold and delivered (in a fraction of the time and cost it would take AMZN) to make the same sale and delivery.

Based on the quarter to quarter increase in sales that Amazon has delivered, it would appear that adopting this type of sales approach would be important for the long term success of BKS and similar competitors.

Thanks for all of your past posts. I have found them to be enlightening. Unfortunately, they have also cost me bucks. You'll be relieved to know that I do not hold you responsible. "A fool and his money will soon part."

good luck to all

Eric
