I feel that market timing is a long term loosing strategy. I like to buy a well managed company, with smart people in an industry with
good fundamentals and forget it. For example I sat in Union OIl and
Livingston Oil from 1972 to 1985 with a gain on both of 20X. I lost
on some other stocks but these two made up for the losses and a bit more.

I have no doubt that if sunw earnings go up 18 % per year the stock will go up. But I have waited over 2 years and sunw has gone up from
an average of 29 to 41- 41 %. This is very good when viewed in
isolation. But maybe I should compared it with the other stocks in this sector: IBM, CPQ, DEll [ which I do not own ], csco, emc.

How about their strategy. Screw MSFT, then what. Make money on Java?
Intel's strategy is to eat away at their low end, decreasing sunw's
market share. Can intc do this? I think so.
