Fed reminds Wall Street it is still top dog

NEW YORK, May 1 (Reuters) - Life is good on Wall Street. Consumer confidence is the highest in some 30 years, inflation the lowest since the 1960s and the stock market is soaring to the moon.

But the Federal Reserve says trouble is bubbling in the economy.

Wall Street was again reminded this week that the Fed is still the top dog. The secretive Fed leaked information of a shift in monetary policy that favors higher interest rates because of concern that the economy's robust growth may reignite inflation.
