Sam: Sounds to me like you have some excellent points there, guy. I think perhaps this thread needs to seriously consider your comment that shareholders can "...make suggestions before an annual meeting. Thus, we can vote on these suggestions instead of following those in proxy. Any shareholder has the right to make his suggestions submitted to an annual meeting. If we are the majority, we can change its decision."
According to the press release of 2/6/96, the annual shareholders meeting will be held on June 5, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. in Austin, Texas with a record date of March 30, 1998. Therefore, each of us as shareholders only have a few weeks to decide what action, if any, to take. I am not familiar with requirements for formally submitting suggestions to a corporation for a vote of shareholders. Can any of you grizzled veterans of the corporate wars fill us in on exactly how such a thing would be done?
In any case, it seems to me this is an idea worthy of serious discussion. Maybe, as a first step, we ought take a poll of threadsters. If there is sufficient sentiment to actually do such a thing, then we could move on to specific suggestions. Therefore, the question before this august (what's the emoticon for a really serious face?) body is:
Should shareholders formally submit suggestions for changes in company policy to American Bingo & Gaming at the annual meeting to be held this June?
A simple "YES" or "NO" vote on the question will suffice - no need to announce the number of shares you own. Feel free to offer any comments relating to your vote.
I volunteer to tabulate the results. All of you "lurkers" out there that wish to vote can email me at tod@electro-net.com. If you have any comment in your email that you would like to post on this thread, please let me know if you want me to do that.
In all seriousness, I think it would be very worthwhile to take this vote. We may not be particularly "august" but we certainly are a body of voters that deserves to be taken seriously.
