New York vs Nasdaq regulation:
Castle's clearing firm operates under Nasdaq regulation.
When you sell a stock, the money and its profits are readily
available. In this way your account is updated automatically.
However, You have to instantly do the calculations yourself to see how
much buying power you have after the transaction. In this way
I wish the software did the calculation instantly for you.

Shamrock's clearing firm operates under New York regulation.
If you hold a stock over night and sell the position the next
day, that buying power is not available. Shamrock needs to
change clearing firms, imo.

Java Software is available for those who want it.
I'm so use to the regular Kill Key that I haven't bothered
to use the Java. I've heard the Java version takes awhile
to get use to. So much development has gone into the current
Kill Key, that I don't want to go through the pains of all the
upgrades of the Java version. I may try it out after its been through a few upgrades.

As for other firms, like MB Trading, they offer a good package with
many more bells and whistles. MB Trading, in California, is just one of many branch offices of Terra Nova. If interested in using Real Tic III, I would contact Terra Nova and find the branch office closest to your residence. 207.152.106.67

There is becoming more competition among SOES offices.
Watch the prices of Level II and commisions drop.

One of my relatives uses "point and click" software with Level II.
His commisions are FREE with no required number of trades/month. Level II is $80/month. I will not tell which service this is cause
I may be going with it myself and don't want all the datek crowd
occupying the servers.
