Here's a different Asian capex experience and outlook.

Promis makes fab process control software but the story is relevant. Some excerpts from an article quoting the CFO in the 5/1 Toronto Globe & Mail, unfortunately not available online.

1st qtr earnings up 128% on 25% revenue increase
43% of 97 revenue was from Asia
80% of current Asian revenue from Taiwan
"We happen to be in the right marketplace and that market is booming right now
"Foundry sector (not just Taiwan software segment) is expected to grow 30% this year
"The Taiwanese view the problems in other parts of Asia as an opportunity to gobble up market share.
"They have some very aggressive manufacturing plans over the next 5 years.

The stock trades very thin at about 5$ US in Toronto. I believe they plan to list on NSD but I can't confirm this. I'm not hyping the stock though I do own it. I bought it last fall primarily because of an association with PRIA and positioning for 300 mm fabs. Figured it was a reasonable way to diversify within the sector.
