I was really surprise about the incompetency of these tech support people. Last year I screwed up something on my Compaq and it didn't recognize the CD Rom drive. So I spent the next two months talking to COMPAQ tech support personnels - escalating to tier-two supports and they sent me all kinds of drivers but they still couldn't figure out what my problems was. They tried to charge me big bucks for sending me Dos and Window disks but I refused to pay and finally they didn't charge me.

Finally I have to invite one of my knowleagable co-worker to come to my house to take a look and voila! he fixed my CD-rom problem in 2 minutes.

All it took was to go into the Bios setup screen and fixed up the drive letters. And all the Tech supports in Compaq couldn't figure this simple thing out !

I think their tech support are all geared up to deal with simple PC problems with people doing very little with their pc.

Compaq had started to charge for its Tech support two years ago if they think you screw up. My next computer for sure will not be a compaq.
