I'm not a grayhead yet, but I've had the experience of teaching some newly-minted MBA types about Cobol and other assorted mainframe stuff such as disk allocation. Kind of like mushing a team of poodles in the Iditarod... <g>

Y2K is a real mess alright. This subject will increasingly dominate the news for the next few years. I'm not sure if I'll get involved. Perhaps if they pay me enough... Right now I plan to learn some modern languages such as Java and C++, on the new state-of-the-art PC I just bought.

I have not followed any of the Y2K stocks, but TAVA sounds like it would be worth a look. It is somewhat relevant to WIND because the company deals with things like embedded controllers on plant floors. (For anyone interested, the URL on that Fortune article is: pathfinder.com )
