Multimonitor Graphics Card

This has been an ongoing discussion on the
Dream Machine SI thread.

There is a homepage for this thread as well:
home.att.net

STB: they have 4mg SGRAM/moniotor, ram dac of 230, and 128 bus = $1300
Appian: current J3 -RDRAM/monitor, ram dac of 230, 64 bus = $1200
Colorgraphics: 4mg SGRAM/monitor, ram dac 200, 64 bus = $695

Most trading houses go with Colorgraphics do to the best bang
for the buck. STB has the best graphics card out with the 128 bus
and high ram dac.

How much SGRAM is enough? We're not running CAD or 3D games.
Just simple trading software.

[During the Cold War era, between the US and Soviet Union,
enough nuclear power was possessed by these to destroy the world
39 times over. Sufficient nuclear power was ONLY needed to destroy
the world once. So the question is, how much SGRAM is enough?]

If Appian or Colorgraphics really wanted to make an improvement, they would increase from 64 bus to 128 bus. That would make a world of difference. At the same time, Both STB and Appian need to significantly drop their prices. The advent of Windows '98 will force them to do so because it will support multimonitors!

Colorgraphics is the current bang for the buck. That's why
they are selling more at $695 - Evolution 4.

Send my thoughts to Appian, if you wish. I've emailed them a few times but they ignore me. I'm pretty upset with them, but do like their Hydrovision Software.

Would like to hear from you about their response.

Regards,

S.W.
