Remarkable link, Steve. How did you happen to find it? I downloaded the abstracts ... pretty interesting stuff for electrochemists, I suppose! Performance Enhancements for Lithium Ion Cells Based on Lithiated Graphite and V6O13 - J.Swoyer and J. Barker (Valence Technology Inc.) "We have previously demonstrated an alternative lithium ion battery concept using pre-lithiated graphite electrodes as the anode in conjunction with a conventional lithium insertion material such as vanadium oxide as the cathode. These lithium ion cells have shown to exhibit superior electrochemical performance with high specific capacities for the individual active materials. a simple short circuit method for pre-lithiation of the anode has been used to demonstrate the performance of this system.
