Actually I doubt most people know what an FPU is (or for some even a CPU). In the short run market share is determined by production capacity, and longer term I imagine factors such as marketing and process technology (I know, I know... Intel's is better.. I hope that saved you from having to post that again) outweigh FPU's.

I think most people just assume higher Mhz and more expensive is better, and their choice will depend upon their budget.
