on col- there is a decision to spin off of @100 hospitals into 3 groups
-- I believe now down to 2 groups-basically col will keep its hosp in stronger urban centers and put more effort into cost control from insurance etc and letting the other segments go ; one is a rural group and is expected to face less competition, the others are in areas where col has only a little presence--net effect is that the smaller units will be weaker and col will be stronger; perhaps , the stock will be undervalued if the spinoffs go to stockholders and their management is able to run the hosp groups with more efficiency, I admit what I heard is sketchy and I dont have all the facts ; recent evidence is that they are selling off more of the east coast hospitals, as prices become more attractive--does anyone have more news about the spinoffs?
