Macker, sorry, but I am not wrong. As I stated, if you submit a market order for not more than the ask size, then the order has to be filled. The only delay would be if there are so many market orders in front of it that it had to wait to get addressed. Very heavy volume would have to occur.

This can easily be verified by looking at a Time and Sales report for the time the order was submitted. If there were gaps of times with no trades, then the MMs are obligated to fill the order.

If your family members submitted a market order for 500 shares (the ask size) and it did not get filled for two hours, then they should call their broker and demand an explanation.
