Hi Mohan - I was here over a month ago, finally got back and have been catching up on a lot of the messages. I've read some interesting stuff. I downloaded the lists of authors, some of whom I have read but quite a few that I haven't so I'll have a lot of reading to do but am looking forward to it.

Yesterday's NY Times had an article about the new play about Gandhi - "Mahatma vs. Gandhi" with part of the headline stating "Gandhi off the Pedestal." Has there already been some discussion of this here? In any event, there's is going to be a US tour and there was a performance here in New York last night. I'm sorry I didn't see it - I think it was just one performance. The play focuses on Gandhi's "tortured" relationship with his oldest son who died of TB and according to the play, also had syphilis. It has been well received by some of the Indian critics and played to full houses in Delhi, Bombay and Madras. The Indian actors have received high praise for their acting and they are with the play here. The actor who plays Gandhi is suppose to be remarkable. This is a quote from the end of the article: "It's a story of a man who transformed the destiny of his nation but could not save the soul of his son." Performances are to be in Columbus, Ohio, Houston, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Washington and Boston before the end of May. It seems that there's only one performance in each city. I'm really sorry I missed it. Had you read anything about it on the sites you visit?
