Let's not fall into the moral relativist trap. The issue with Mr. Clinton is not as his spin doctors would have you believe, that is S-E-X. Certainly, character to be sure is an important issue for anyone who seeks to hold the highest office in the land. I would grant you that Mr. Clinton has done incalculable damage to the country and the Presidency. I don't know if you managed to see the tape of his press conference last week but I thought it was instructive that he would not answer whether he thought the President should be a role model and whether the President should obey the law. When asked if he was prepared to have these question linger for the remainder of his term he answered with one word. "Absolutely." The man's lack of character is an open book. But, there are bigger fish to be fried here. The real issues that Mr. Starr is investigating are: fraud, obstruction of justice, perjury, subornation of perjury and the kinds of abuse of power which ended the Nixon administration (rightfully) before his term. Today, the Clinton spin doctors were calling for the ouster of Mr. Starr and his "supervision" by Ms. Reno. Supervision by the AG is illegal and they know it. If Mr. Starr is guilty of the conduct they accuse him of the President has the power to remove him and he should. He's trying to have it both ways and to take your eye off the ball with all these distractions. Don't be distracted. One thing is for sure, if the TRUTH would have helped Mr. Clinton, we'd have heard it by now. He won't answer the questions because the truth won't help him. It will only confirm what we already suspect. JLA.
