Dear "Mickey":

I think the whole advantage of the PLC laser is the timing and the compression of the power into a tiny hole that makes it through on one blast. My wife had a bad mitral valve for most of her life which caused her atrium to become distended which in turn caused her heart to be in severe arythmia (atrial fibrulation) continually. She has no regular heart beat. This according to the mechanics at Cornell in NYC is the expected pathology of a heart muscle that has been physically altered.

The beauty of being able to make a precise hole in one shot and in time with part of the heart cycle no doubt mitigates any corallary damage that might ensue from repeated shots. It is like comparing a sharpshooter to a gatling gun. Which one makes the neatest hole?

I am sure PLC was smart enough to get a broad patent on whatever causes their machine to do the job so well. They also, if you believe what they say, have done a great deal in hands on education and helping the physicians to become confident and comfortable with their device and the procedure. This is not going to be overcome easily. We are talking heart surgery not dermatology here. It does appear that PLC has an enormous defect and that is Investor Relations. They do not answer calls; they make very ill timed and ill-considered announcements and it appears, if the formula concerning the debentures placed by SB is true, probably don't care at all for their present investors figuring that they are just speculators. Their financial acumen, in a word, stinks.

Notwithstanding that it would appear from this engineering oriented layman that they have their science and mechanics down pretty well. Given the Dan Rather thing and their performance before the FDA this time it appears that they are getting their paperwork and publicity down as well. Now if they could only get their manufacturing, corporate finance and investor relations on track, the stock will perform.
