Berney, Re: Taxes and smoking I agree that those who are already smoking will not stop because of increased taxes, but young teens may not get addicted because they can not afford too. It stopped me. I choose to buy gas for my car instead. Plus, there was not as much social pressure to smoke as I was growing up. I also think that people have the right to smoke, but as a non-smoker they don't have a right to make me smoke while I'm in public places. Side note, nicotine is a powerful drug. The small amounts that are inhaled can make you addicted. Yet nicotine is a deadly blood poison. The some Indians used to use it on their arrows tips, and tobacco workers who get cut by a blade used in harvesting tobacco are dead within minutes. I vaguely recall that it paralyzes the central nervous system. People have a right to choose, but I really think tobacco companies are just drug pushers. They know it kills, but they don't care. They have lied to people for many years; all in the name of money!!! Of course the government doesn't mind exploiting this either, so where does that put them? Go Berney!!!!! Chris
