Ok....now for the past two days we have had a lot of discussion regarding daytrading vs. investing, and now I am going to give my take on it. (Gosh I LOVE this...for $125 I can give my opinion on anything and nobody can stop me! LOL)
Basically, the way I see it is that day-trading and long term investing are simply two different methods of trading, (BTS being a third) which simply are not cohesive with each other on a single given stock. More clearly, day trading a stock, while beneficial to the one doing it, makes it difficult for the stock to grow for the long term investor.
Daytraders are not evil people. They are simply people like the rest of us who choose this method of trading. They have specific reasons for their methods, as do their counterparts, the long term investors.
Personally, I am a long termer for a lot of reasons. First of all, I have a day job, and cannot monitor the tick tick tick like others can.
But perhaps the MAIN reason I do not day trade is greedy in origin. It is because I have a deep rooted dislike for the IRS, and want to give Uncle Sam the least amount of MY money as possible.
That is just my opinion, and I am sticking to it.
