Ojai,
Thanks for the good info. Yes, I have exactly the same connection arrangement as you do, 128k ISDN.
First two months, I had no problem. But last week, Mon-Tue, I had multiple disconnects, twice during trades. I came out okay both times, but it could have been a nightmare. I stopped trading until I figure out what to do next.
However, getting setup with World Com seems to be more trouble than I want to go through. I am not impressed a bit. Very expensive and a bit snotty, I might add. Given all the problems others have mentioned to me, I think I'll pass on them for the time being, probably stick with ISDN.
Problem with ISDN, though, is I only have one ISP that offers it as a local (non-long distance) call in my particular small town (outside New Orleans). And their service doesn't seem too good. My tracert readings lately consisted of 16 connections all the way from New Orleans to Palo Alto, CA and back to Austin with times varying from 120-600 msec each. Not too good.
I'll see if I can either find another ISP or get the one I have to do better for me. May I ask exactly how you motivated your ISP to get you better connected? I can't imagine how I'm going to get them to even listen to me.
Also, World Com wants a minimum 1-year contract. Does anyone have them on month-to-month basis for frame relay connection?
Thanks, again,
Bill |
