True, we all have to die of something, but a large part of the issue surrounding taking care of your heart is quality of life, and not just quantity.
To a certain degree, we do not have control over the degeneration of our bodies, and genetics, age and pre-existing conditions all influence our heart's health considerably. But, we can minimize the effects, if not the time of onset, by avoiding the other contributing factors to development of atherosclerotic disease.
If you look after yourself better, you are more likely to be one of those dear old grandparents who unexpectedly pass away peacefully in their sleep, rather than some overweight slob who spends his last few desperate years short of breath, inactive by circumstances and spending a considerable amount of time and money prolonging the inevitable degeneration resulting from years of self abuse.
When James Dean quoted the "live hard, die young, live a good looking corpse" thing, I don't think he was referring to the heavy smoking, overweight, KFC addicts who end up in the ER, pale, sweaty, and breathless with chest pain, only to push themselves over the edge and cardiac arresting by trying to squeeze out a bowel motion from their diverticular ridden and constipated intestinal tract. It's an inglorious end which is seen all too often I'm afraid.
