If I could find somebody selling this machine,
it is what I've become convinced gives the
best bang for the buck, and I would buy it:
It should sell for less than $1500.

Overclocked Celeron 300>400 (Tomshardware suggests
this is best bang for buck as missing cache is not
as important as the fact that celeron has same fpu/
it is Dechutes core...) put that on an Abit or Asus BX
motherboard, splurge on an upcoming Matrox G200 or a
Riva TNT based video board, go cheap with the Ensoniq PCI
sound card (bootnet reports the remaining Ensoniq's are simply
being relabled as Soundblaster awe64 pci's anyway...), I'd
probably get a WD Caviar--since I have abused Caviar's and
never never had any problem with mine...

No opinion at all on CD/DVD, tape drive or whatever
for backup, and floppy, also no opinion on speakers.

As far as Monitor, I have limited space so I have already
got the Viewsonic G773 (17" .27), very nice, $400 from
buycomp.com, I replace my old Kensington trackball with
a Logitech marble fx, quite nice.

Thoughts?
