Leadership Position at NetWorld + Interop 98

PR Newswire - May 04, 1998 08:13

Gives Industry-First Product Demonstrations, Provides Bandwidth Management

Solutions for InteropNet and Delivers Expert Remarks on Internet QoS

LAS VEGAS, NetWorld + Interop, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Xedia Corporation, the
leading provider of business-quality Internet access solutions, today announced its
show highlights at NetWorld + Interop, 98. Xedia is demonstrating several industry
firsts with its award-winning Access Point(TM) product family in Booth Number
5805. In addition, he company is providing critical bandwidth shaping and network
management solutions for the InteropNet with its Access Point 100. Ashley
Stephenson, Xedia chairman, will deliver expert remarks on Internet Quality of
Service (QoS) at several presentation venues.

A pioneer in delivering Internet QoS using the industry's first commercial
implementation of Class-Based Queuing (CBQ) technology, Xedia will demonstrate
AutoClass -- the industry's first solution for automatic network policy definition. The
recently announced AutoClass feature for the Access Point product family gives
network managers a unique degree of automated bandwidth management that
substantially reduces the need for labor intensive network policy creation.

As a result of the joint marketing agreement between Xedia and Silicon Graphics
announced in March, Xedia will demonstrate traffic management for streaming IP
video with Access Point and Silicon Graphics' award-winning WebFORCE(R)
Mediabase software. Xedia's Access Point products provide network level
bandwidth control to complement Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE(R) Origin(TM)
servers and WebFORCE(R) software solutions for demanding Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) and Web supersites. By allocating specific amounts of bandwidth to
IP video traffic, Xedia will demonstrate QoS for real-time multimedia applications.

Complementing its presence on the tradeshow floor, Xedia is participating in several
general conference and sub-conference sessions at the show. Xedia Chairman
Ashley Stephenson will be speaking on the following topics:

-- COMMUnity, "QoS Techniques for Enterprise Networks,"
Panelist, Monday, May 4, 10:15 - 11:45 a.m., Convention Center,
Pavilion 6
-- ISP Forum, "Broaden Your ISP Service Portfolio: Best Effort IP Is Not
Enough," Moderator, Tuesday, May 5, 2:00 -3:30 p.m., Las Vegas Hilton,
Ballroom E
-- General Conference, "Internet Computing's Bandwidth Management Panel,"
Panelist, Wednesday, May 6, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Room N219-N222

As a member of the executive team that established Xedia, Stephenson has been
very active in the speaking circuit presenting on Internet access and Quality of
Service (QoS) issues at Spring Internet World, Next Generation Networks and
ISPCON, among others.

An InteropNet Silver Contributor, Xedia provided two Access Point 100 products
that enable the Network Operation Center (NOC) to allocate bandwidth on the
management network. As the world's foremost networking technology showcase,
the InteropNet connects all NetWorld+Interop exhibitors, Novell connecting points,
hot spots and conference sessions to each other and to the Internet. The InteropNet
gives show participants an opportunity to work together to construct a state of the art,
multivendor, multiprotocol, high- bandwidth network demonstrating that the spirit of
cooperation that built the Internet is still alive and well.
