Give them capacity and they will come...

Probably true. Imagine the rubbish that people will have on their drives. It will be hard to find anything. There will have to be new organization software to help you find things.

Interesting to see all this great thoughts on WDC and they are up 3/8 while Quantum is up 1 3/8. I suppose it's a great idea for WDC to find somebodies else's technology to buy since they can come up with anything of their own.

So, what makes you all think IBM isn't out to sell as much as they can get? Is there any reason why they should want to give WDC exclusive rights to this technology? Anyway, mid 99 is a long, long way off.

Does this leave Read Rite with any business?

Still, I don't think the average user will buy any high priced drives from here on out. They'll be happy to add 10 gig when it costs $200, but that won't make any of these companies rich.

Regards,

Mark
