Good discussion. Personally I can't see GTE caring to fight too hard to hang on to it's BC Tel stake. The current foreign ownership rules prevent them from going anywhere with it. Sure they can stay on for the ride as the Canadian industry consolidates, but they can never play a leadership role. I doubt it's their style to be a bit player. So they'll be open to an offer. My guess is that Telus will make that offer for BC Tel, and that BCE will try too. If Telus can't pull it off, then BCE will eventually control both BC and Alberta.

Should be a messy fight. Sure wish I knew what it meant for share prices.
