Yes, Bill, I was trying to make a point by being humorous. You are absolutely correct that statistics without a proper random sampling and a frame of reference are meaningless.

We all know what havoc the UPS strike had on society, and that was just one company. Imagine if just 1% of similar sized companies have a problem on account of Y2K? Assuming you can make a good case for that happening, pointing out that the remaining 99% won't have any problems accomplishes nothing, and is thus pointless.

Besides, this thread makes the assumption you believe there is a problem. Nothing wrong with taking a contrarian position, but this is not the thread on which to do it, IMO.
