I agree with about DOJ scrutiny as healthy for MSFT. (and industry as a whole) If the state ATs push it in Federal court they will have to come with a much stronger case than the DOJ. I just don't see that happening. My initial thought was that they would attempt to leverage their state constitutions to block it. I could be totally wrong on this.

I don't want to see MSFT or INTC completely dominate their markets, almost completely, but completely. MSFT won the Office suite wars, so now we pay twice as much for it. INTC would still be keeping prices high if it wasn't for the AMD, NSM, IDTC threat. Look at the pentium pro, no competition equals no price decline...

As a consumer, I want the prices to continue down. As an investor, I want to own a piece the dominate gorilla. A true conflict of interest.
