Here's an article that appeared on the Yahoo Message board. (I don't know how to cut and paste, so please bear with me if this looks funny; it's my very 1st try.)

Ousted and up

INVESTORS IN CML Group have gotten creamed. Shares in this $341 million (1997 revenues) specialty retail holding company-named for founder Charles M. Leighton-hit a peak in 1993 at $32.88 on the success of the company's NordicTrack exercise machine. But as the workout boom fizzled, so did the stock (NYSE: CML). Recent price: $1.81.

Things are looking up. The Bass brothers have accumulated 7% of the stock and their money manager, Thomas Taylor, has set turnaround wheels in motion. The board ousted Leighton in January and replaced him with a Mr. Fixit, John Pound. CML Group has also hired Lehman Brothers to advise it on improving shareholder value. Read: Nordic Track sale. Possible buyers? Brunswick, Nike or Stairmaster. CML will keep its jewel: gardening retailer Smith & Hawken, which grew sales 25% this quarter, mostly because of its California-chic clothing and garden gear sold by catalogue. Pound hopes to expand the company's retail presence beyond its 29 stores. Gardening is a hot pastime and Smith & Hawken has one of the few brand names in the business. The company could also broaden sales by selling through department stores.

Pound may do a reverse stock split and change the company name to Smith & Hawken. Tangible assets are worth over $3 per share; stock could hit double digits by late next year.

The double digits "possibility" is an interesting comment for people visting this thread. I'm still getting out once I make a small profit off this company.
