I am a small share holder (1000) so my exposure is also small. I like their concept but am puzzled by their performance. Several months ago I went on their home page and saw that they were selling distributorships for $75,000 and individual drivers for $30,000. Now they appear to have dropped that and are trying to go thru established distributors. They also claim to have engaged The Food Group as a PR / marketing company. The Food Group is the PR firm for very big names (McDonalds, Taco Bell etc.).
The small sized oven allows them to get shelf space where it is typically very tight, bars, lounges etc. and I like the 110 plug in. Simplicity sells. But why aren't they? If TBOP is going to make money and the distributor and the retailer and it sells for about $6 then I would guess that TBOP makes about $2 a pie. You've got to sell a lot of pies at $2 a pie to make any real money. To make a million that would be 500,000 pies and therefore they would have to sell 1370 pies every day. They have a ways to go to do that.
The flaw I see here is that established distributors are going to give this minimal time because they have to sell the customer on the concept and the oven. They need to go back to their original distributorship and driver idea BUT create a sales force to establish the smaller retail outlets and have another sales force to pursue large accounts.
