Network Imaging Announces Name Change to TREEV(R);
Corporate Name Change to More Accurately Reflect New
Product Direction and Market Positioning

HERNDON, Va., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Imaging Corporation today announced that its
name has been changed to TREEV(R). The name change more accurately reflects the Company's
new orientation as a provider of integrated, production-level document management solutions and is
a precursor to the introduction of the Company's forthcoming software product suite. The new
product suite will be announced next week to over 20,000 attendees at the AIIM '98 (Association
for Information and Image Management International) trade show May 12 through May 14, 1998 in
Anaheim, California.

The Nasdaq trading symbol for the Company's common shares will change from IMGX to TREV.
The

Nasdaq trading symbol for the Company's Series A Cumulative Preferred Stock will change from
IMGXP to TREVP, and the trading symbol for the Company's publicly traded warrants will change
from IMGXW to TREVW. The Company anticipates that its stock and warrants will begin trading
on or about May 8, 1998, depending on Nasdaq implementation.

Jim Leto, president and CEO of TREEV, commented, ''Having a name that resonates with
customers and accurately communicates what we do is critical to establishing a strong identity in the
marketplace. TREEV comes from the word 'retrieve' which is what we're all about: storing,
managing and retrieving electronic documents and other content in high-volume, distributed
environments.''

Leto continued, ''Changing our corporate name to TREEV marks an important new beginning for
this company. In the last three years, we have undertaken a top-to-bottom overhaul of every aspect
of the Company. We have made significant strides in seizing opportunities for improvement and
setting the Company on a positive growth path for the future. We brought in a new management
team, completed a restructuring effort, and developed a new strategic plan. By renaming the
Company, we are completing our plan and are now well-positioned for continued growth and
near-term profitability. We have the distinct advantage of being a new company with a powerful core
of proven technologies with more than 2,400 satisfied customers. We are now set to build upon that
established base and are eager to move forward in this rapidly expanding market.''
