From Business Week in April you may be interested to learn:

"Researchers have found some proteins in shark cartilage that do block blood vessel formation. Bioengineered versions include Neovastat, made by Aeterna Laboratories of Candada; squalamine from Magainin Pharmaceuticals in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; and Troponin I, from Boston Life Sciences in Boston. All have dramatically reduced the size of tumors in mice without toxic side effects.
