More on Splits: re Would it be unreasonable to see a 3/1 or a 5/2 if the price ran up to that high end again?

TR,

You'd have to ask Michael and the board. The last 4 splits were all twofers. Currently DELL hasn't enough shares authorized to do that again, although I believe they might be able to do a 3:2 Personally, I hope they stick to a 2:1 plan. (Don't know whether you trade options or not, but I don't know of any company with as many different option roots as DELL ==> mah pore li'l haid can't figger 'em all out any more.)

Besides which, if a company does an odd number such as the 5:2 that CPQ did, then it ends up with 100-share contracts and 250-share contracts, and it can be VERY disconcerting when one owns and tries to look up the current price of a 250-share contract, only to find "option symbol does not exist".

FWIW, Pat McDaniel, LONGonDELL, and I all think that there is a good likelihood of a split in the Oct-Dec time frame, but only the proxies for the annual meeting will give us a clue as to whether we are on track or not.

Regards, 3.
