No offense Hugh, but your discussion of NSCP is a bit ignorant. To begin with NSCP's browser is also free and they have SHIPPED a gazilion copies already and will continue to do so. Navigator is still the Coke (not the Pepsi) of the browsers. More importantly, NSCP is not looking to make money of the browser any more, but they will use it as a tool to promote their dominant Internet presence. That is where the money is going to be. Look at the YHOO's... Revenues of NetCenter should more than double annually in the next few years.
Unlike the YHOO's, Netscape has a prospering Enterprise Software business. The potential synergies between the two are yet to be exploited.
Last but net least, NSCP is developing strong strategic relationships with such pillars in the hi-tech industry as IBM, SUN Microsystems, Oracle, and major telecoms.
NSCP is not the one-product, easy-pickings, geeky start-up it used to be when MSFT rolled over them. It's now a more mature, multifaceted company, with experienced management and a desire (and ability) to grow their revenues and earning and MAKE MONEY.
I see 5 great years ahead of NSCP - and, IMHO, they are definitely RELATIVELY cheap (despite the recent run up) |
