Bugs can be good for you, I just got an email from someone about that:
You can look at all the could haves and should haves, in the stock market, search for leaks etc. etc. But, this one showed no signs.
The story in case you have not heard it yet is about this small company with 50 employees doing research in the biotech industry. On Sunday the NY Times published an article about breakthroughs in cancer research. The stock was at 12 1/16 Fri. close and opened at $84 this morning...WOW
I have always looked to find stocks that might make this kind of moves by analyzing certain irregular movements in stocks prior to the news release. Let me tell you one thing about this one though, there were no signs!!! Everyone involved kept their mouth shut.
Just a thought, If you were lucky enough to know about this one and invested (gambled) $4347 in call options on Fri. you would have $1,000,000 at the open!!!!!
When looking at the chart though, may 12 1/2 calls could have been a great play regardless as the stock was looking to double bottom with $14 price target price. (I know one person who bought 10 calls based on the chart, she turned $387 into $63,550 this morning) As a matter of fact, she asked me what I thought of her position taken last Tue., and I said the chart looks like it should bounce, but I don't play biotechs.
Don't get me wrong, I am not upset about this miss on my side, I stick to my system as it has done well over the years. If I was a crazy investor, I would probably be broke by now. |
