2 thoughts on the macromedia purchase:

Apple must not be doing too shabby and doesn't expect to in the near future if they are readily shelling out bucks to advance QT rather than develop in-house. Although I am sure the purchase is well spent, an apple even close to not doing so well in q3 and q4 wouldn't think of spending potential profit dollars now under Jobs.

Also-I wonder if there was something "else" in the deal. Such as a "we'll scratch your back if you scratch ours" kinda thing. Macromedia has REALLY wanted to dump FinalCut for awhile and I'm sure there were some hidden incentives in it for aapl. just my hunch, but time will tell I guess.

by the way, I can't seem to peel myself away from Gil's book. It's really good. lots of figures and numbers for the investor to play around with, as Eric previously mentioned.
