cisco buys networking software firm for $50 mln
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 4 (Reuters) - Cisco Systems Inc., in its latest of a string of acquisitions, said on Monday it agreed to buy privately-held Class Data Systems, an Israeli networking software firm, for $50 million in cash and stock. The acquisition would give Cisco, the world's biggest maker of computer networking devices, more expertise in software products that prioritize the flow of sensitive information through a computer network, the company said. Of the $50 million purchase price, Cisco will give about 80 percent cash and 20 percent stock, a Cisco Spokeswoman said. Cisco said it also expects to take a one-time charge of between 2 to 4 cents a share in its fiscal fourth quarter to cover the expense. The acquisition will be completed by the beginning of June. |
