Lycos, AT&T in 3-yr Internet pact

WALTHAM, Mass., May 4 (Reuters) - Lycos Inc. and AT&T Corp
Monday said they are in a three-year pact to develop and offer
a range of new Internet-based consumer communications services.
As part of the agreement, the companies plan to offer new
multi-media Internet applications for Lycos users in the near
future. The Internet applications will combine Web-based
technology with traditional communications services that the
companies expect will revolutionize the way users interact with
the Web. Multimedia applications will include such areas, among
others, as voice-enabled chat, and point-and-click directories,
the companies said.
AT&T will also offer users of Lycos (www.lycos.com) a full
array of AT&T services via a co-branded "Personal
Communications Center" on the Lycos site. In addition, Lycos
and its subsidiary, Tripod (www.tripod.com), will offer various
services and content on AT&T Web sites (www.att.com and
www.att.com/worldnet/).
