Everybody should note that this DSC product is not based on IS-95, so while it undoubtedly will help the CDMA cause it does not directly benefit Qualcomm.

I have been high on this DSC product for about a year , since I saw it in action at their trial site in the U.K. The thing that is holding up DSC and other (QCOM included) wireless local loop providers in the U.S. is the lack of dedicated sprectrum for that application. While you can do WLL over PCS spectrum, I don't know that that application justifies the cost of the spectrum. But, with a product like Airspan you can get toll quality voice and 128 Kpbs data, which should be enough for consumer markets.

I still dont know if IS95 is going to work as a WLL interface because of the low speed data it can provide. Maybe ok for 2nd and 3rd world markets but not for US and Europe, and of course the top Asian countries either.
