Frank, S3 should be able to win back Diamond and STB in time for the retail Christmas season but with samples available in August there will not be OEM wins until Q1 99 at the earliest. It will not be a easy task for S3 to win back the OEM's. It is very difficult to unseat the current vendor. Hopefully the competition will slip up like S3 did last year. I do believe S3 is back on track. What was most encouraging was S3 stated it was already working on the next 2 generations of chips. If S3 does get back to the upper 5 low 6 I will jump in. This is around the same price management has their options. S3 still has one possibly 2 quarters of losses coming and with the markets going nuts I am content to stay on the sidelines on this one for a little while longer. But with this announcement and the design wins in mobile I am starting to get the itch again. stockroach
