Thomas. On a little note of lost.. of big lost opportunities in Lotus Land.

I have to note that 20th century Fox (albeit under different ownerships I have to say) thought that both their films STAR WARS and Titanic would be dogs at the box office.

In the case of STAR WARS the studio execs thought that George Lucas was a total ding bat and even people on the set thought the picture was "George's little joke". 20th century Fox thought so highly of the film that they gave Lucas the merchandizing rights to the film.. because they had absolutely no value wahtsoever.

Fast forward. Titanic time.

20th century Fox sold US domestic to Parmount and "half" of the project because they had financial "doubts" about the film after cost over runs. In the deal Fox got international. Fox then let Parmount sell US broadcast TV for $30 million without "escalators" that depend on how the film fared at the box office this last December. I believe similar films that have grossed this much went for $60 million plus.

Whoops. We are talking aobut miscalculations inthe order of $500 to $1 billion here. Whoever said life was simple. Right?

Do you have these kinds of pesky problems in Swiss companies?
