You, know I was watching Animal planet with the kids last night... via TCI cable (analog) and the video got all messed up. No static (as I am accustomed to with TCI) it just broke up into lot's of little blocks for a second or two. Looked suspiciously like Macro blocks to me. I suspect some of the feeds into TCI are already MPEG and just get decoded prior to going out on the analog loop.
