May 5, 1998 IDM Environmental To Build $120M Power Plant In China Dow Jones Newswires SOUTH RIVER, N.J. -- IDM Environmental Corp. (IDMC), through a joint venture partnership with China Direct Inc., plans to build a $120-million power plant in China. In a press release Tuesday, IDM said its IDM Energy Corp. unit and China Direct will form Hebei Qingzhang Huada Heat and Power Corp., which will then design, construct and operate a 100-megawatt heat and power plant in Hebei. Annual revenue from the operation of the energy and steam plant is expected to be $48 million, with operating margins at least the same as energy industry average returns. The plant will be operational within 18 months after the start of construction. IDM said it will own a majority interest in the project; the balance will be shared by China Direct, a project development and financial organization, and the government of Hebei Province.
