When this "never end a sentence with a preposition" canard came up on this thread, we unanimously voted with Winston Churchill.

H.P. Fowler, in turn, agrees with us. A reviewer once condemned Fowler's "The King's English" on the grounds that the first paragraph of its preface ended with a preposition! For Fowler's discussion of this "superstition" (his term), see the article "Preposition at End" in "Modern English Usage." (I hope it hasn't been changed in the latest edition. The original, curmudgeonly Fowler is long dead & gone.)
