Here's a note on Samsung;

SAMSUNG TO PRODUCE 256MB DRAM NEXT YEAR -- Samsung Electronics announced it will begin volume production of 256Mb DRAMs in Korea in 1999. The company also said it that 256Mb can be produced with 200mm wafers at 0.18 micron, eliminating the need for a costly 300mm investment. Samsung said it shipped samples of its second-generation 256Mb DRAM to seven of the world's largest PC makers last month. Samsung's 256Mb DRAM is designed to be the same size as the existing 64Mb DRAM, for installation of 256Mb into any computer using 64Mb or 128Mb without modification. Samsung: 512 672-1000.
