A company could reduce the authorized accordingly after a RS, but most don't...except in those instances where they got the criteria for NASDAQ listing except the price.

But most RS come from companies that don't got the criteria and just want to dilute at commensurately higher prices. Yes, they take the hit but then they issue themselves more shares and dump the rest in the float right after the reverse.

Believe me, they come out ahead. Original investors get hammered.
