Really not odd at all. He simply exercised his right of selection. Of course, our all knowing God knew the Jews would fail in their charge. The giving of the law, itself, reveals that knowledge. It also revealed that the law cannot save. God had a plan. It has not changed, but will come to complete fruition according to God's own time table. We are given insight into that plan and timing by the Bible. We can't know it any other way. It is an exercise in frutility, to discuse the Bible without having read and studied it. Yet many try.
You will recall also that Jesus said he had other sheep, refering to the gentile. Recall he said, first to the Jew and then to the Gentile. You recall that told the woman begging at the table, that he had not see greater faith in all of Isreal. Jesus would not that any would parrish, but he does not remove our volition. If he did, Satan would have the right to cry "foul", and he would be correct. But Jesus does not and will not forget the Jew. Thanks.
Some mispelling is typo, but some is error. Sorry.
