<<The cable industry vented its concerns on Monday about
digital TV "must carry" rules during a panel discussion on regulatory issues
at the NCTA's Cable '98 conference.

The cable industry is united in favoring a market solution to the question of
whether cable operators must pass through all broadcast video formats to
their customers, including 1,080-line interlaced. Some industry officials

consumer demand would force cable firms to carry most broadcast
channels without a government fiat.

Pam Turner, vice president of government relations at the National Cable
Television Association (Washington). >>
