International Datacasting's President Inaugurates Mexico's Newest Digital Audio Satellite Broadcast System
Ottawa, Canada - April 27, 1998 -International Datacasting's President & CEO, Ron Clifton, recently attended the kick-off of Sistema Radiopolis's new digital audio satellite broadcast system, Radiopolis 2000, in Mexico City. Sistema Radiopolis, which is owned by TV network Televisa, is Mexico's oldest and largest radio network. The event, which attracted national media attention, centered around the installation of International Datacasting's FlexRoute, a satellite digital audio broadcast system. FlexRoute permits Sistema Radiopolis to broadcast crystal-clear audio into every corner of Mexico, up into the southern USA and down into Central America. Mr. Clifton, speaking "live-on-air" to the entire broadcast area on the new system, stated that the corporation's esteemed radio clients already include Deutche Welle, the BBC, Capitol Radio, Radio Maria and the WorldSpace Corporation. "Today, I'm happy to say to Radiopolis - one of the most important communications consortiums in the world - welcome to our esteemed family, and thank you for the opportunity to be able to serve you."
Making his comments in Spanish to a crowd that included 35 journalists, Mr. Clifton added that "Latin America, and Mexico in particular, is very important for us. There is a new wave in information and communication and we are happy to make the equipment that helps make this possible."
Ricardo Rocha, President of Sistema Radiopolis, said that "Undoubtedly the gains that we are seeing today in broadcasting would not have been possible without the advances we find at the threshold of the 21st century."
