(Nasdaq: SPYG), the industry leading supplier of software and services for making devices work with the World Wide Web, announced today an aggressive expansion of its worldwide sales and marketing operations. President and CEO Doug Colbeth said that Spyglass has realigned sales and marketing to better address higher demands for the company's products and services coming from the burgeoning Web-device market. According to Colbeth, growing demand for Spyglass technology in key International markets has made it necessary to have international managers report directly to the President's office. Spyglass Asia-Pacific, headed by Michael Conley, managing director - Asia Pacific, and Spyglass' European operations, scheduled to open by the end of 1996, will report directly to Colbeth. North America sales will continue to operate East and West operations. Tom Banahan, former vice president of sales, has left the company to pursue other interests. Jay Friedland, founder and former vice president of marketing for SurfWatch, which was acquired by Spyglass earlier this year, has been appointed vice president of strategic marketing for Spyglass. In his new role, Friedland will work more directly with key Spyglass partners, such as Microsoft Corp., Microware Systems Corp., Integrated Systems Inc., Oracle Corp. and WebTV Networks, to maximize business and marketing opportunities. In addition, he will develop key marketing programs with new customers and form important strategic alliances in the device marketplace. He reports to Colbeth. Early this year, Spyglass brought on board a 10-year veteran of the computer industry to head up marketing for the company. Reporting to the CEO as well, Randy Littleson, vice president of marketing for Spyglass, will work closely with Friedland to develop marketing programs to address the huge potential of the Web-device marketplace, "As a company, it is absolutely imperative that we build an organization that will make us successful in the device market," said Colbeth.
