Back in January of 1989 there was this Korean priest in Los Angeles who predicted the world would come to an end by December of that year. He told his followers to sell everything they had and get ready to depart to the other world at midnight on the last day of December of that year. He also asked them to sell all their material possessions in this world and forward the proceeds to him so he could distribute it wisely and in a holly manner (whatever that meant!)! The priest's followers of about 150 good Christians did act exactly as their leader asked them. On the last day of December 1989 at around 8:00PM all 150 good Christians gathered in their church in downtown LA with smiles on their faces as they believed they soon would be going to the other world. Like any other journey they expected the captain of their ship (in this case the holly Korean priest) to guide them to their final destination. However as time passed they realized their leader was no where in sight. They thought he had already departed to the other world so they did not mind too much! Then came midnight and well... The world did not end! I remember watching them the next day on local news screaming and cursing and wondering whatever happened to their priest! About 2 weeks later the Police found the priest in New York trying to fly to South Korea! Moral of the story: One should never believe the world can possibly come to an end so easily or anytime soon!

Listening to Bill Gates this morning reminded me of that Korean priest! It is beyond me to express what a bunch of bull he was giving to the public and for that alone he should be (as Larry Ellison said): Punished harshly! According to him the US economy (and possibly the World economy) would come to halt if Windows 98 is not released on time!!!!!!! This comes from a man who 3 weeks earlier on CNN said he was not spending too much money into marketing Windows 98 because he thought it was just a tune up to Windows 95 and it was not that "important"! And now all of a sudden in less than a month Windows 98 has become so important that it would effect the US economy (not to mention the world)! Furthermore according to Bill Gates if Windows 98 is not released on time other foreign software makers will move in and will take advantage of the situation resulting in the defeat of god's gift to the US economy (i.e. Microsoft). WOW! All that because Windows 98 is not released on time! And exactly who are all these foreign software companies that dare to force everyone use non Windows operating system?!!

The CEO of Compaq was on CNN's money line tonight and when asked what he thought of all this and why he along with a bunch of other CEOs (who supported Bill Gates so passionately) thought Windows 98 delay would cause such a dramatic negative effect on the US economy (afain according to Gates), it seemed he could hardly keep his face straight, his nose was getting longer and longer as he spoke and it was obvious (to me anyway!) he knew he was just B.Sing Lou Dobs! And for a brief moment I got the feeling he was about to recall the Korean priest event back in 1989 before he remembered he'd better not mention that or else He would be getting a nasty call from Bill Gates tonight!!

I tell you, the "...and only the paranoid survived" philosophy has really gotten to Bill Gates to the point that he has totally lost touch with reality what so ever!
